Monday evening as part of National EMS Week 2026, we hosted the “๐—•๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐——๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ป: ๐—œ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฅ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ & ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€” class where local motorcyclists were taught vital lifesaving skills that can be done prior to First Responders arriving on-scene during an accident. Chief Jim Sims and Dr. Lee Milligan designed this class using their backgrounds in EMS, Riding, Rescue, and Accident Investigation/ Reconstruction specifically for riders.

Vitals skills covered included but not limited to:
– Scene Safety & Quick Assessment
– Bleeding Control
– Patient/Rider movement (out of danger zone)
– Helmet Access (when warranted)
– Airway Management
– Spinal Stabilization

Each participant took home a tourniquet and starter first aid kit to kick-start a response bag on their motorcycles. The course included: Stop the Bleed Training as well as AHA First Aid.

The feedback shared at the end of class will be incorporated into future sessions.
