Today we look at one of our officers, Lieutenant Jon Gottschall, who came to Holiday Park VFD with experiences from out east and became an officer last December.

Volunteer Years: 2 at HPVFD | 10+ in the Fire Service
As one of our Lieutenants, he supervises firefighters responding on an apparatus (Engine, Rescue, Truck, or Utility) to an emergency dispatch or special assignment.
Jon joined our fire department over two years ago after a successful career in the volunteer fire service in the eastern side of Pennsylvania where he carried on the family tradition.
As a Lieutenant he is responsible for first line supervision of firefighters responding to fire alarms, rescue operations, and/or other calls for assistance. He is also the Training Officer for our Internal Drill Program as well as new Firefighter Orientation Co-Lead.
Jon was awarded the “Rookie of the Year” award for 2025 at our annual banquet on January 31, 2026.
Outside of the fire department, Jon is a Project Manager overseeing construction projects and programs in the Pittsburgh Region as well as is a brand-new dad!
