Firefighter Aly Bryner, recently completed her required “Essentials of Firefighting” courses to become a certified “Interior Firefighter” as part of the PA State Fire Academy standards. The courses took several months, involved four modules, and cumulated with a live fire day of exercises to test the student’s skills. Chief Sims awarded Aly a “Back Shield” to signify her operational readiness and clearance to enter burning structures.
Firefighter Bryner graduated Plum High School a few weeks ago and was enrolled in the Allegheny County Fire School while completing her regular studies at Plum High School. She plans to continue to take additional courses to prepare her as she grows in the volunteer fire service. ALy joined the department in October of 2018 and has been involved in various aspects of the department both operational and administratively.
