Four members from our fire department’s Swift Water Rescue Team completed two intense days of training for Emergency Boat Operations as part of the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission’s Swift Water Rescue certification series. The group joined others from several surrounding fire departments including Monroeville VFD #4 and Monroeville VFD #6. This is the third course in a series to become a Swift Water Rescue Technician.

Training was conducted following COVID-19 protocols for outdoor training as well as vaccinated personnel.

Holiday Park VFD supplements the Municipality of Monroeville Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team by providing manpower, resources, and our ATV package on rescue assignments. We train closely with them as well as the Kiski Valley Water Rescue Team.

– 90% of our firefighters have “Water Rescue for First Responder” certification
– 45% have “Water Rescue for Emergency Response” certification
– 30% have “Emergency Boat Operations” certification
– 5 Firefighters have “Rescue Diver” certification
– 3 Firefighters have “Advanced Lines” & “Ice Rescue” certification
