On Friday morning, the cadets spent time with Diamond Heart Wilderness Training Grounds LLC learning valuable skills around wilderness rescue, stokes basket, ATV ops, hillside rescue and more!
Right after lunch Plum EMS stopped by to provide insight into the EMS world for the cadets and then assisted in our First Aid session ranging from burns to broken bones to allergic reactions and other medical/trauma responses.
STAT MedEvac then conducted a Medical Helicopter Landing Zone certification class for the cadets and then conducted a live demo at O’Block JRHS with one of their newest helicopters with a full tour of the aircraft.
The last session of the day was time dedicated to focusing on the emotional & mental health of those in the fire service and how its ok to to feel and ask for help led by R. Michael Greiser from the US Dept of Homeland Security.
The whole week ended with a graduation ceremony at 7pm that evening at Plum Borough’s Summerfest where family, friends, and all those in attendance cheered on the cadets for all their hard work achieved this week! A special surprise was having a police officer Bag-Piper lead the cadets into their graduation ceremony!
