Thursday started out with the cadets focusing on vehicle stabilization, rescue, and extrication methods. They learned about the latest tools and techniques to improve efficiently and safety. Before lunch, they earned their Stop The Bleed ACS certification focusing on life-saving skills to stop major bleeding; each cadet was also given their own Stop the Bleed Kit.

After lunch, the Allegheny County Fire Marshal Office’s K-9 arson investigation team ran the cadets through their operations and how the dogs play an important part. K-9 Bailey (Black Lab) performed a series of drills and skills for the cadets.

Murrysville Medic One & Murrysville Medic One Dive Team spent the rest of the afternoon with the cadets going over all the aspects that team performs from rescue, recovery, and evidence investigation. Several SCUBA divers performed a demonstration in the Sampson Family YMCA indoor pool and then the team serve as instructors for several water rescue stations such as throw bags, stokes basket rescue, blackboarding, and more!

The camp staff would like to thank the Allegheny County Fire Marshals Office, Murrysville Medic One, and the Sampson Family YMCA for their assistance and access to facilities to make today a great camp day!

One more day to go tomorrow! Make sure to come out their graduation ceremony at Plum Borough’s Summerfest at 7pm at Larry Mills Park and cheer on this awesome group of cadets!
