As part of National EMS Week and Stop the Bleed Day, Holiday Park VFD hosted a free Community First Aid & Stop the Bleed class last night where citizens earned their American Heart Association certification. FF/PHRN Gavin Bordogna, a Trauma specialized nurse, lead the class with insights in actual cases to get key lessons across the attendees.

The Heartsaver First Aid course trains participants first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills.

Skills such as bandaging, bleeding control, splinting, injury assessment, epi-pens, and more were covered. Everyone in class went home with a Bleeding Control Kit for their car or home.
