Today kicks off National EMS Week and we would like to recognize & thank our 41 members who are certified EMS Providers within the Holiday Park VFD as well as our colleagues at neighboring agencies like Plum EMS that are working to help the community in times of health crisis, education, prevention, and more…

In Plum Borough, responding to medical emergencies is a 100% team effort between all the emergency agencies in the borough.

Plum Borough Police Department carry AED’s, bleeding control pouches, and overdose kits in their vehicles. All of their officers are trained in CPR, Narcan Admin, and bleeding control; if not more. Many times they are first on scene & initiate CPR.

The four volunteer fire departments provide manpower, BLS EMS response, & rescue resources on medical calls. Two of the four departments operate as certified Quick Response Services (QRS), where they are a state certified EMS Agency with certified EMS providers who provide immediate Basic Life Support care & work hand-in-hand with the ambulance crews in critical & life threatening medical incidents. That is why many times you see a fire department SUV or fire engine show up first to a house of business when 911 is call for emergency medical help.

Plum EMS serves as the Advanced Life Support & transport agency in the borough with their Paramedics, PHRNs, & EMT’s as paid duty crews 24/7. They are responsible for transporting the patient to the hospital as well as provide other services to the community. They serve as onsite EMS command during major incidents such as Rustic Ridge; coordinating the crews.
