The final day of National EMS Week is when we recognize and thank our EMS providers for hard-work and dedication throughout the year. At Holiday Park VFD this not just our certified EMS personnel but also all the firefighters who CPR/AED certified to assist our EMS personnel on medical responses; its a team effort! We have the largest QRS staff in Plum Borough and one of the more active programs in Allegheny County among the volunteer fire departments.
We focus on providing Basic Life Support until the Advanced Life Support personnel on the ambulances arrive on-scene. QRS/EMS operations are overseen by the departmentβs Medical Officer who reports directly the Fire Chief as well as to our Medical Director (Emergency Physician) at AHN-Forbes Hospital.

Holiday Park VFD was one of the first volunteer fire departments in the state of Pennsylvania to be licensed as a EMS Agency providing Quick Response Service (QRS). This was done at the time of the creation of Plum EMS when we turned over our ambulances to them to get the new organization started. With EMS having a strong presence and tradition in the department, we started our QRS operations. Since then we have been assisting not only Plum EMS but the other ambulances services that are called into Plum Borough as well as assisting our healthcare partners and community organizations.
In 2018, the PA Department of Health, designated the Holiday Park VFD as a Continuing Education Sponsor Site; where we can host EMS classes that award credit to existing EMS providers as mandated by the state to maintain certification. We currently have members who are certified Instructors in various health/ems related fields.
