The Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual Fire Camp & Junior Fire Academy for youth 14 – 17 years of age who are interested in the Emergency Services fields whether as a career path or as volunteers. A cadre of instructors and staff from the areas of Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and Law Enforcement provided the campers, or as we like to call them, cadets, a glimpse into their worlds and sample what it’s like to be in them.
22 cadets participated in this year’s camp which provided them with a week’s worth of activities ranging from the firefighters maze at Penn Hills VFD to the pool at Sampson Family YMCA for water rescue training, to putting all they learned from the week into a series of scenarios at the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire’s Training Center!
We invite you to check out the Fire Camp’s web section for photos, videos, recaps, and more from this years camp: https://holidayparkvfd.org/fire-camp-junior-fire-academy-2/
