Local first responders from Plum’s emergency services (Holiday Park VFD, Unity VFD, Renton VFD, Plum EMS) along with other agencies such as the Allegheny County Fire Marshall’s Office took part in the state’s Suspect Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) class this evening. The course focuses on what first responders should be on the look out for when they respond to incidents where children maybe present or involved. Instructors from the EMS, Law Enforcement, and Child Welfare provided the class with both legal and ethical aspects of situations involving possible abuse or neglect.

Firefighters, EMS Personnel, and Police take seriously their duties when it comes to abuse or neglect of any person, especially children. This course reminds the first responders of the legal process for reporting and identifying situations.

The class was arranged by Plum EMS and hosted at the Holiday Park VFD social hall.
