The four volunteer fire departments in Plum Borough all adhere to this format so that we can operate together successfully. As a rule of thumb, all the officers have white “shields” on the front of their helmets, no matter their helmet color, to help further standout for command purposes.
WHITE HELMET: Chief of the Department and the two Assistant Chiefs
(White Shield on front of helmet with rank & station number, 236)
YELLLOW HELMET: Fire Captain and the Fire Lieutenant(s)

BLUE HELMET: Medical Officer & Assistant Medical Officer

RED OR BLACK HELMET: Firefighter and/or Engineer
(Black Shield on front of helmet with “Engineer” & station number, 236 for Interior Firefighters)
(Black Shield on front of helmet with “Firefighter” & station number, 236 for Interior Firefighters)
(Green Shield on front of helmet with “Exterior” & station number, 236 for Exterior Firefighters)
(Orange Shield on front of helmet with “Jr Firefighter” & station number, 236 for Junior Firefighters)
