As the annual EMS Week begins across the country, we pause first to ๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ก ๐ฉ๐๐ค๐จ๐ ๐๐๐/๐๐๐๐ก๐ฉ๐ ๐ฅ๐ง๐ค๐ซ๐๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐ฌ๐๐ค ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ฃ๐ฉ-๐ก๐๐ฃ๐๐จ ๐๐ช๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐จ ๐พ๐๐๐๐ฟ-19 ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐๐จ. May 17-23, 2020, is the 46th annual National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. EMS Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s “front line.”
Today we look back at the rich history of Holiday Park VFD incorporating EMS into the department for decades. We & UNITY VFD were the first ambulance services in The Borough of Plum taking over from the Plum Police and eventually the first QRS once Plum EMS was established & have worked closely with them ever since!
We provide ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฐ/๐ณ with our 20+ PA Dept of Health certified EMS providers (EMR, EMT, A-EMT, & Paramedic) and several vehicles equipped with the necessary life saving gear. Our personnel respond with Plum EMS; many times arriving on-scene first and immediately beginning patient care and then assisting the Paramedic ambulance crew. We operated under the medical command & guidance from Allegheny Health Network & Allegheny Health Network and benefit from working closely with them on new procedures and training.
