The Lawrence Glass Chief’s Award is presented to an active member of the department who has performed above and beyond to the department in operational areas. Larry’s widow, Carol, presented the award to Medical Officer Alex Marcelewski for 2019. The chief line officers of the department select the member each year and the award is named after past Chief Lawrence Glass who passed away five years ago. Alex is addition to overseeing our QRS/EMS operations, he is a state certified EMS Instructor and has recently completed several courses/certifications with the National Fire Academy and FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute.
Chief Glass grew threw the professional/career firefighter ranks in Florida, retiring a Battalion Chief. He returned to Holiday Park VFD and again worked his way up the ranks to serve as fire chiefs for many years. He passed away several years ago and the membership created this award in his honor.
