Tuesday evening during our department’s monthly meeting, we paused to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our members that occurred in 2024. We are a 100& all volunteer fire department serving Plum Borough for over 60 years.
With over 60 members of the department, each year we pause to highlight those who place in the top 10 of overall response to calls (Fire, EMS, and Community Outreach); the department in 2024 responded to 1,069 emergency calls.
The Lawrence E. Glass Chief’s Award is presented to an active member of the fire department who has performed above and beyond to the department in operational areas. The chief line officers of the department select the member each year and the award is named after past Fire Chief & Life Member Larry Glass.
The Johnny & Roy Squad 51 EMS Award goes each year to the top 2 responders for EMS/QRS Calls during 2024.
The Rookie of the Year Award looks at the total package of a person whom joined that year from training, to calls to community service and more.
Those members who went beyond our normal training program as well as Essentials of Firefighting are highlighted.
The “Richard Borgoyne President’s Award” is awarded to any member of the department, Active or Company status, who has gone above and beyond to assist the department in non-firefighting operational areas and overall general service. The award is named after long-time Past President & Life Member Richard “Rick” Borgoyne who passed away in 2016.
