This week’s edition of our social media series where we answer your questions about our fire department and the fire service in general….

When our firefighters step off the Engine, Rescue, or Ladder Truck, in addition to their SCBA Pack, they are typically carrying one of these four tools:
– Halligan Bar
– Flat Head Axe
– New York Hook
– Pike Pole

The nature of the emergency call and the assignment of the crew will dictate what will be the final items carried by each member of the crew. In some cases it may also include a Pressurized Water Can, Extinguisher, Bolt Cutters, Large Mallet, etc…

Each tool has specific features & purposes along with some shared capabilities; you can read about each one in the graphic attached to this post.
