Our Medical Officer, Alex Marcelewski, was one of fourteen EMS Providers in Pennsylvania, presented with the EMS Star of Life, for their individual efforts around Emergency Medical Services. The award; which comes from the Pennsylvania EMS Providers Foundation, is held yearly in Harrisburg as part of EMS Weekend and recipients must be nominated at the local level.

Alex was nominated by Chief Jim Sims for his multi-year efforts on rebuilding and expanding the QRS/EMS Operations of the Holiday Park VFD. He has evolved the program from a few EMS Providers and one dedicated vehicle to over 30 EMS Providers (various levels) and four state certified QRS vehicles to respond to medical emergencies in Plum Borough. In addition he has implemented an internal training program, spearheaded the fire department becoming an EMS Continuing Education Sponsor Agency, lead several EMR training courses hosted by the department with CCAC, and grown our community education classes.

Chief Sims, Medical Officer Marcelewski, and Assistant Medical Officer Cline attended the awards dinner and met with numerous agencies from around Pennsylvania during the event to learn and exchange ideas with.
