With the recent trend of dry weather in our area, there’s been an uptick in brush and wildland fires. To help combat that, the Holiday Park VFD has in our apparatus fleet:: 236-ATV with a custom skid unit with pump and tank (water & foam) to conduct fire suppression in hard to reach areas where a Fire Engine-Pumpers cannot go.
The unit also carries additional hand tools for brush fire operations such as fire racks, chainsaws, brooms, shovels, and more. It can also be used to transport wounded individuals in a stokes basket. This unit is housed in a custom trailer (236-Brush) which contains additional brush fire tools/gear along with equipped to serve as a field command post.
This past week it has been deployed numerous times within the borough and to neighboring communities for fire suppression and for a medical-rescue operation.
The unit also has a second skid unit, that is for EMS related situations. The pump system slides off and the new skid provides a third Responder seat, space for patient in reeves basket, EMS storage, and O2 Kit.
