Holiday Par VFD hosted the Public Safety Institute of CCAC’s Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course at our station from May to July of this year. 12 students graduated the course and move onto the next phase in their certification process, testing with the PA Dept of Health and the National Registry of EMT’s. Once they pass both tests, they will be certified in the state of Pennsylvania and operate as a Basic Life Support Practitioner with a Fire Dept, Rescue Squad, or EMS Agency.

The hands-on course lasts over 55 hours ranging and involves emergency medical response for situations from cardiac arrest to broken bones, to breathing difficulty and mass casuality incidents.
